Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with Stacey Solomon on a fresh and vibrant commercial photography shoot for Hello Fresh. The brief was all about capturing Stacey in action, rustling up various recipes while showcasing the brand partnership in an authentic, warm and visually appealing way.
This was a full-day shoot inside a beautiful kitchen setup, a hybrid between studio photography and lifestyle, where every step of the cooking process was photographed with care. From the initial prep to the final plated dishes, every ingredient was styled and every frame considered. When it comes to food photography, there’s no such thing as a throwaway moment, every herb, drizzle, and garnish has to earn its place in the shot.
We were working alongside a video crew who were capturing behind-the-scenes content and long-form footage for Hello Fresh’s socials. It’s always important on shoots like this, especially large-scale brand photography projects, to coordinate carefully between photography and video. I’ve worked with this crew before, so ahead of the day we had a pre-shoot meeting to plan timings. We agreed on structured 20-minute intervals during key cooking milestones, which gave me the space to arrange the set for stills, and get Stacey involved for those in-the-moment ‘action shots’ as well as the final polished portraits.
As the campaign was heavily geared toward social, every photograph was captured in both 16:9 and 9:16 formats, ensuring maximum flexibility across platforms. It’s a small but vital step in modern London photography workflows, giving brands the content they need in the formats that perform best.
Stacey was an absolute dream to work with. Warm, funny, and totally professional, she brought a relaxed energy to the set that really shines through in the imagery.
As with most commercial photography projects, a good amount of work goes in post-shoot too. I spent time on subtle retouching, enhancing colours, making sure the food looked its absolute best, and ensuring the overall tone and feel matched the client’s brand guidelines. The full delivery was turned around within a week, and I’m happy to say the client was thrilled, signing everything off with no revisions needed.
This job was a great example of how food photography, brand photography, and portraiture can all come together to tell a cohesive, tasty story. Shoots like this are a joy to be part of, good people, good food, and a really solid result.
