Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with Fulham FC striker Raúl Jiménez on a campaign for Mexican brand Crest. This shoot was part of a wider advertising campaign aimed at both UK and international markets, and as a studio photographer based in London, it’s always a joy when I get to combine sport, personality, and brand storytelling all in one assignment.
We were based in a central London studio for the day, where I was tasked with capturing a range of clean, versatile portraits of Raúl that would later be used across billboards, digital advertising, and other OOH placements. The brief was to recreate a specific lighting style from a previous campaign, which meant a four-light setup: two key lights to give Raúl that signature front-facing glow, and two kicker lights behind to lift him from the backdrop and add energy to the frames. This setup is something I often use in sports photography and brand photography when the goal is bold, graphic results.
Raúl was fantastic to work with, incredibly relaxed in front of the camera and happy to jump between expressions, poses, and directions without fuss. That kind of flexibility makes a huge difference when working on a fast-paced portrait photography brief like this, especially when the brand needs a wide range of assets to work with.
Everything was shot tethered through my iPad Pro setup, a system I’ve refined over time to offer real-time review for clients right there on set. For this shoot, I also ran a live online preview link, meaning the wider team who weren’t able to attend in person could view images as they were captured and send immediate feedback. It’s this kind of collaborative, streamlined workflow that helps keep larger productions running smoothly, especially in commercial and studio photography settings.
After the shoot, I gave the selects a light edit before handing over to the brand's design team for cutouts and placement across various ad formats.
