Photographing Guardian’s Summer Networking Event at Wagtail, London

Another brilliant corporate event in the diary, this time for Guardian, who hosted a warm and welcoming summer networking evening at the beautiful Wagtail London. As a London-based corporate and event photographer, it’s always a pleasure to work at venues like this, panoramic views over the City of London, stunning summer light, and a buzzing atmosphere filled with great people and conversations.

The event was all about bringing together key members of the insurance and finance industry, along with the press, for a chance to meet Guardian’s new CEO and senior leadership team. From a photography point of view, the brief was a perfect blend: natural, candid moments of networking, a few more polished shots during the Q&A session, and capturing the overall essence of the evening, relaxed, professional and full of positive energy.

As an experienced event photographer, I know these kinds of evenings are all about subtlety and reading the room. You want to blend in, quietly working your way around conversations without disrupting the flow. A lot of what I shoot at events like this leans into what I’d call approachable professionalism, guests mid-laughter, exchanging business cards, enjoying a canapé or clinking glasses with the London skyline in the background. These images don’t just document the event; they become part of a brand’s story.

The marketing team at Guardian were fantastic to work with and wanted a suite of imagery they could use across social media, internal communications, and industry press. In fact, some of the final images were picked up and published in Health & Protection Magazine, which is always a nice cherry on top.
